To each one his own. This is my point of view, please read this review with an open mind. This is an interesting product for those who stay at home and enjoy being engaged by talking to a ‘thing’. I found it very ‘un’human and not useful like a tablet or a smartphone.

Voice activated electronics, as many would realise, have not made an impact as expected. At least I do not like talking to a thing other than requesting Siri to set my morning alarm or open GMail. I suspect a lot of us employ voice commands rather sparingly. I have not seen people taking to their phones very often. But if you’re one lonely, detached soul, all by yourself with no family and company; please enjoy taking to Alexa and grooving to ‘Laila mein Laila’. I’d rather select a repertoire of songs and play them on my better sounding speakers than Alexa’s. On the other hand, I requested Alexa to read a book from my Kindle collection and it did very poorly in this department. There were no pauses, no emphasis on words and it was simply very poor reading. Would you take Alexa to office, would you take Alexa while on the move? Very few would. Alexa is only meant for room use (a room within a house) for those who stay at home and require to talk to someone. Such people should read books instead or watch TV (that’s audio plus visuals). There is long way to go to make this a ‘required’ product. It’s in the ‘Gimmick’ stage right now. I returned Alexa the same day. I was curious not anymore.
New virtual Assistant
Received the product on time!! Started using it. The main disadvantage I found is that it should be plugged Everytime to use it not has a battery to work in. Sound clarity is not good if we raise the volume. Alexa has many functions and its feels good to have a personal assistant. But the sound features are not good as expected. Feel like returning the product.. I would recommend if people are looking for Bluetooth speakers that can be carried to functions and small parties Bose speakers are the best option ever! If you have kids in the house, they are gonna love it. My brother's kids went nuts and they developed a habit of waking up to Alexa every moring at 5. The elderly will use it too for the old songs. And it is one of best sounding speakers for this price, so don't worry, just buy it. We bought the Prime subscription as well and most of the time it is playing some song in the background. The best thing is that it listens from very far away. Like 30-40 feet away and you don't have to shout at it. Best smart speaker. period.Atleast you have to provide built in WiFi receiver and a small display like mobile to install the Amazon app directly. You are providing calculator etc that is not much useful now a days because in mobile we have everything. Alexa, Stop playing music after 30 minutes. I used this command daily when i go to sleep and i don't have to worry about turning the music off if i fell asleep. Alexa, wake me up at 6.30am. or Alexa, remind me to buy pay electricity bill in the morning. Since we don't keep phone at bedside to avoid radition sleeping, we keep it far away. And almost everyday i forget to set an alarm or keep a reminder for next morning. With Alexa it's a boon. What i love the most? It doesn't have a battery, so it doesn't have a fixed life. Its like a fan or a refrigerator, you buy it for long term, its not like buying a cell phone. and then buying them again and again and again..... Even my 3 year old is able to operate it. He can't say 'Okay Google' but he can say 'Alexa' 'Aleccha' or 'Alesa'. Waysoever (if thats a word) he prenounce it, Alexa just gets lit up to play his favorite song/rhyme
